Brain research in schizophrenia

My current research focus is: Why is it that at a certain age group people develop schizophrenia? We are focusing on early intervention. So, how do we treat patients that come in during this development of this disease? I’m looking at abnormalities that occur in very specific brain regions, namely the front of the brain, called the prefrontal cortex . It’s been found that in patients that exhibit first episodes of psychosis this brain region is dysregulated. And this is what fascinates me, this is what my main research focus is on: What’s going wrong in this specific brain region and how can i really find new targets to fix the abnormalities that occur in the circuit?
