Kingston University academic Dr Nora S Vyas explains what schizophrenia is and who it can affect


Schizophrenia is a major psychiatric disorder.
It occurs in approximately one percent of the population. Typically the age of onset
is in the late teenage years or early adulthood, although some patients do tend to develop
schizophrenia at a very early age, so before the age of eighteen which is considered quite
rare and a more severe form of schizophrenia.
